Wool Lane, Midhurst, Sussex, c.1965, Ref- m678
This is the Higginson House, Wool Lane, opposite the Wheatsheaf.
It belonged to Viscount Montague. In 1793 a carpenter named Higginson, renovating Cowdray House, was living here.
It was he who left a brazier burning overnight, burning down the mansion and creating the Cowdray Ruins we know today.
