Frederick was fatally injured in a farming accident in Australia within 12 months - [1912] - of emigrating. He is buried at Inverell in NSW. see below.

OBITUARY.
 
The death occurred last Saturday of Mr. Frederick Tier, who had been employed by Mr. Oswald, of Little Plain. On the 8th instant the deceased, when assisting to put a harvester into a shed, was crushed against the wall of the building. On the 11th instant he came to town for medical treatment and had since been living with his daughter, Mrs. White, near the railway station. On Saturday last acute abdominal symptoms manifested themselves, and a conference of doctors was held, the result being that Mr. Tier was removed to a private hospital. An operation was subsequently found necessary, from which the deceased never rallied. An inquiry into the cause of the accident will be conducted by the District Coroner at Little Plain on Saturday.
